  Spiritual Director

The Spiritual Director of Akshobya Buddhist Centre is Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang has dedicated his entire life to teaching Buddhism and to providing conditions conducive for the study and practice of Buddha's teachings, with the sole aim of helping people discover a meaningful life and solve their problems. He has written twenty highly acclaimed books that reveal the complete path to enlightenment. His teachings and writings convey the profound wisdom of Buddha in a clear and simple way, helping people to integrate it into their busy, modern lives.

He has designed three study programmes for the systematic study and practice of Buddhism, established over 1000 Buddhist Centres and groups worldwide, trained qualified Buddhist teachers, and created a project to build Buddhist Temples throughout the world dedicated to world peace.

  Resident Teacher

Geshe Kelsang's representative in Nottingham is the Buddhist monk Kelsang Namkhyen. He has been a close disciple of Geshe Kelsang for many years. He is known for his warmth, sincerity, and light-hearted humor. Namkhyen teaches Wednesday night General Programme, the Foundation Programme and the Teacher Training Programme.
